Gold Cup Liveblog: Canada vs. Jamaica

It's been a busy summer! World Cup Qualifying, and Confederations Cup, and... a lot of tournaments the Canadian men's national team aren't in. But this is a tournament for us! It's a good chance to build ourself back up after some of the disappointments of last year, and to see where we're at--if we've really fallen from the fourth-place ranking in CONCACAF we held at the end of the last Gold Cup to 11th, where FIFA has us as of Canada Day.

Tonight, Canada plays Jamaica in the Gold Cup. Come in and watch the game with us! It's on TV on Sportsnet West and Ontario only, so if you've been screwed over by the Seattle Mariners or the Boston Red Sox, we'll be here to make sure you get your fix. It should be pretty good, Canada-Jamaica games usually are! Action starts at 5 PST. (If you're in the blogging set, just introduce yourself as you come in.)

Some team news: Stalteri is the captain, and apparently, Canada is using a taxi-squad setup and does not have their whole 23 men with them in Los Angeles. That means no Gbeke for now; he's not in the 18 and will be staying with Vancouver until called up, so he could feature against Minnesota July 9th.
