Gold Cup: Thoughts on last night

Didn't that feel nice? We played in a competitive fixture against a strong opponent and won. We weren't dominating, and we could have dug in a little harder, but we made it. We did put away Jamaica. I don't believe that it was an upset. The Gold Cup Website said so, and our ranking would seem to indicate it. But the fact is that little seperates the top CONCACAF teams; we had a poor qualifying campaign, and didn't play too many friendlies since then.

What this really means for us is that our 2007 form is not lost, and if we can keep pushing we can make something happen in this tournament.

There are two games tonight: The USA play Grenada, and if Bob Bradley is said to be playing kids, New England's Shalrie Joseph and Blackburn's Jason Roberts are said to be missing tonight for Grenada. Honduras/Haiti is going on right now, Haiti is matching right now, it's their good chance to earn points to capitalize on any mistakes made by the b-sides put out by Honduras and the USA.

On a related note, my pet-peeve with MLSNET.com is that the post scores for the USA in the match tracker on the home page but nothing for CANADA.

They seem to forget where Toronto is.
