And the 18th man is...



...Jonathan Beaulieu-Bourgault, called up today to take the 18th and final roster spot for Canada as it prepares to take on Macedonia and Poland. This is clearly an "experimental" call-up and one that likely doesn't happen if Jacob Lensky doesn't defect unexpectedly.

Speaking of defectors, Beaulieu-Bourgault was the player that was forced into the net after Asmir Begovic received a red card in Canada's final game of the disastrous 2007 u-20 tournament. That was the last time we saw Begovic wearing Canadian colours. Take that for what it's worth.

Beaulieu-Bourgault, who is in position to win his first senior cap, has been sitting on the bench for everyone's favourite 2 Bundesliga team St. Pauli this year.
