Canada on the tube: maybe

goltv@mapleleafsports.com

That's where you should direct your e-mails if you want to see the Canada - Macedonia or Canada - Poland friendlies next week.

I'm not going to make this sound any more impressive than it is, but, in a casual conversation Saturday with someone that would be in position to know, and with no reason to give me false information (that's a really complicated way of writing "sources say," but a little more accurate in this case!) I was told that GolTv was "working on" getting those two games shown.

As the network was also looking to show some European playoff games (by process of eliminating the games Setanta is showing that would likely be Ireland - France) the Canadian games would probably be shown on tape delay, but...

It's better than watching on a shaky Polish web feed.

Again, this is just a single sourced piece of info, but it can't hurt to politely ask the nice folks at Gol if they are on this and to thank them for any effort that they are taking. The more people that let them know they are interested in watching the more likely they will put in the effort needed to make it happen.

Once again: goltv@mapleleafsports.com

I did my small bit... lets hope we get to see the boys in action even if it is a tape delay.

I sent them an email asking them not to show it. At least until they get better in house announcers.

Those Gold Cup games this summer were a joke.

It's a goal. Goal. Goal. Line? Oh, yes. Goal!

Anonymous, you do realize that the Gol TV announcers from the Gold Cup matches were employees of Gol USA, right?

Gol Canada uses their own announcers when producing content, and while I doubt they'd "produce" these games should they get them (they'd likely just pick up the feed from the host), they'd assign the TFC guys (Wileman and DeVos) to call the game as the host feeds will probably be in another language.

Complaining to Gol Canada about the Gol USA announcers is like complaining to Sportsnet about the announcers in the EPL broadcasts.

Even , if you hate the announcers THAT much then don't watch, there are tons of people who DO want to see and would appreciate if you shut up

-Hello Cristian,

Others have also wrote in about this and we’ll see what we can do about acquiring them. Thank you for the kind words.

All the best,
