is the front runner for the vacant TFC coaching position. Shocking, I know. Preki has only been the most consistent, legitimate (Steve Nicol is NOT coming folks. Get that out of your head) rumour out there. If you take Mo Johnston at his word and believe that MLS experience is a requirement, then Preki is really the only viable candidate.
Is it the right move? At the risk of sounding like a copout, that remains to be seen. He certainly has managed to squeeze a lot out of not much in the past -- and that's a good thing -- but he's also played favourites at the expense of more talented players. Just ask Amado. TFC seems to have a few talented players in its room that may or may not think highly of their abilities. So, we'll see if he can make it work.
Regardless, it will be an upgrade from any coach the Reds have ever had and since MLS is a coach’s league...

Are you suggesting that Preki could be a bad fit because he refuses to stroke egos?
No, I'm suggesting that Preki might be a bad fit because he might struggle to get the most out of talented players.
You don't win championships by squeezing talent out of plumbers. That helps, but if your skill guys don't do what they are paid to do you're only going to get so far.
But, I’m just throwing the thesis out there. I’m not saying that *will* happen.
Are you suggesting that you are a masters student in soccer because you use words like thesis?
I think we learned from this year that talented players who don't buy into the team don't produce much success either.
The cause and specifics of the locker room issues are still a mystery to me, but if he comes in, cuts out some of the problems and Mo finds capable (read: maybe not quite as good, but willing to shut up, chip in and work), we will be ahead in the game.
No, 1:06. I'm a PhD student, thank you very much.
If the incoming manager doesn't have the ability to tell Mo which players to get rid of and which to bring in it won't matter who is hired.
Whether those players be stars or not any head coach has to know that the GM has his back. I am in favour of hiring Preki provided he is given that type of control. If not TFC has the same problem on its hands as last year.
