The Globe and Mail is reporting that the CFL board of directors has all but shot down the idea of the Argos playing the 2010 season at BMO Field.
As reported by David Naylor, he journalist that first broke the potential move (this time):
While no formal vote was taken, sources say there was a “strong consensus” around the table not to allow the Argos to play their games at a facility where CFL field dimensions would have to be altered.
Yee-freakin'-haw.
This is great news for soccer fans because it appears that the only way the CFL can ever go into BMO is if the stadium is physically expanded to make enough room for the field. The Argos are broke and not likely to become rich anytime soon and Paul Beirne told It's Called Football late last month that there was no way MLSE was paying to expand the stadium for the gain of the Argos.
At this point I almost want to start a campaign to get a damn stadium built for them so they get the BMO idea right out of their head.
But, anyway...it appears we've won!
