God knows how long this will stay up:
It's been a bleak year or so of football for me personally. Well, as bleak as watching the sport can be. I'd rather have my teams rip my soul from my body and have it stomped on by a 634-lbs lineman from the Dallas Cowboys, who happens to be wearing high heeled shoes, than miss a single second of a game. But, still....
TFC losing 5-0 to NYRB (or 1-0 on aggregate to Puerto Rico). City drawing seven in a row. That whole Canada thing. The soul has been ripped out a few times.
But that goal by Tevez today. It was pure, primal. I screamed so loud the neighbours thought of calling the police on me (I'm sure). One of my cats is still hiding under the bed.
For a very long time -- longer than I can remember certainly -- Man City has always lost in the quarters. Always. It was like a punch line. The only time the club has gone to Wembley has been in a promotion playoff. In League One. City may now have money, but supporters of the club will never feel confident about what they will do with it.
The blue half of Manchester only knows misery. We don't see goals like Tevez' in Cup ties.
Except we did today. And I remembered why they call this the beautiful game.
The 3-0 win over Arsenal sets up a dream of a semi-final tie. Red versus Blue. Home and home. Forget the Champions League final (ok, maybe not, but still) this is where it's at.
It will be fascinating to see how United plays this tie. Normally you would expect the Red Devils to go young, see what happens. But against City? The Noisy Neighbours?
It will be a classic. I kinda wish I was a neutral so I could appreciate it. As it is, I'll be prepared to have my soul ripped out. Does anyone want to babysit the cats?

We'll play a team of youngsters I can garuntee it. Sir Alex is far too arrogant to switch his tactics through out the history of this cometition just because an annoying litte blue team hasn't won a trophy in 33 years. It should be an interesting tie though...
Only reason I'll be going for City is because my hatred for United is that much more pronounced.
