The mayor represents

A poster on the Red Patch Boys has shared this photo of Toronto mayor David Miller at the climate control conference in Copenhagen. As you can see he's sporting the TFC red on foreign shores.

Yeah, it's a bit self-indulgent of TFC fans to take joy over the idea of a high ranking official supporting the team and doing so in a faraway place. One day it will be passé, but today it's still a little cool.

It's unclear just where TFC would be without Miller, who has been the team's biggest public fan from day 1. He has season tickets up with the riff-raff and he legitimately cheers the team on. TFC isn't at the point where it's going to score political capital. Sure, he has probably got a couple votes from the TFC crowd, but that's not really the point and it's clear by his actions.

I mean he is wearing a TFC scarf in Copenhagen.

Miller will not be running for re-election in the next Toronto campaign. Thankfully TFC has already got its stadium and its grass. There isn't much more to win at city hall. Well, except to keep the Argos out. Hopefully the sitting duck mayor still has enough clout to make sure that happens. It would be a fitting last call for a man that will be remembered for a lot of things, not least of all as the biggest friend soccer has ever seen in Canadian politics.
