The CSA is still not making a statement in regards to the USL/NASL dispute, but the organization is stressing that the Nutrilite Canadian Championship for the Voyageurs' Cup will go forward in 2010.
"The three teams met in December to work the details out," communications director Richard Scott said. "It's all set for 2010."
Scott also doesn't think that the Whitecaps and Impact's CONCACAF eligibility will be in jeopardized.
"Both teams were active (in a sanctioned league) in the 2009-10 season, he said.”Many of the teams in the competition use the 2009 season as qualification for the Champions League."
However, Scott said that he has yet to speak to CONCACAF. The CSA just returned from holidays today.
As far as the USL/NASL dispute goes, Scott said that the CSA is waiting for the USSF decision.
The USSF gave the two sides seven days to work out a solution on Jan 31.
Scott also said that the CSA was not prepared to comment on what would happen to the Voyageurs' Cup if MLS players were locked out.
"Again, that's a USSF situation."

We shouldn't be surprised by what Richard told you, especially concerning the Vs Cup. If the Nutrilite were to take any kind of hit at this point it could jeopardise all the work the CSA has put into it so far, which would affect too many current sponsors.
So much for the TFC Fanboys and homers who kept saying "Big chance there is no V-cup next year, TFC will represent Canada automatically and bla bla bla..."
Well they will if the nasl does not get sanctioning, regardless of the outcome of the tournament (unless Canada's slot is pulled)
thank you for your ignorant comment
Btw where does this leave the Drillers?
Well the NASL was already refused sanctioning and so was USL-1, they will find a comprise for 2nd division in 2010 should be announced tomorrow.
So thank you for your ignorant comment...
The Drillers will play in 2011 in whatever 2nd division league comes out of this as they will rep-lace the Whitecaps that was already established..
Thanks again for another ignorant comment...
Ya that's pretty obvious that if an agreement is reached everything will run smoothly
my comment about ignorance was pertaining to your inference that tfc fans are abunch of homers. Sure there are a few of them, but in general they're fairly knowledgable and supportive towards the Whitecaps and Impact. The fact that you felt the juvenile need to come here and attack tfc fans unprovoked shows that it is you who is the homer
"Attack TFC fans" and "Sure there are a few of them"
What attack?? Exagerate a bit?
And I said "So much for THE TFC fan boys and homers" referring to the FEW OF THEM (as you mentionned) who kept going on and on about how TFC would automatically represent Canada next year, this is hardly an "attack" on ALL TFC fans...
It's just the fanboy and homer articles by Duane, Ryan Johnston and a few others implying that this was gonna happen was obviously soaked in homerism and so far from reality that it was just annoying...
Fact is TFC was never gonna represent Canada automatically, and I believe those writers know that and just wrote fanboy pieces to generate hits and rile people up...I was referring to them not TFC fans as a whole...
Dude,
Thanks for reading, but try and read a little more carefully. CONCACAF determines entry into the CCL. The CSA determines entry into the NCC. They are different competitions. Richard told me he *thinks* the Canadian teams will be OK for the CCL regardless of the decision on NASL/USL sanctioning. That still means they might not be as he didn't tell me that CONCACAF has agreed to allow the Impact of Whitecaps into the 2010-11 CCL. This article is only about the V-Cup.
Reporting ALL possibilities of a situation doesn't make me a homer. It makes me a journalist. And if you truly can't see that then I might as well stop trying to explain it to you because you are way too blinded by your own biases to ever understand.
"way too blinded by your own biases"
Look at yourself in the mirror...
Maybe...but your "evidence" here hardly shows bias. I never wrote – “look, great, TFC won't have to qualify.” Actually, I point blank said I didn’t want TFC to get a direct bye because it would be bad for the game. But yet you are still determined to find a dreaded TFC bias in my reporting of this. I’m pretty sure I can’t win with you, can I?
Asking people about the possibility of this being a problem is the very definition of reporting.Ask yourself how it benefits anyone to bury their head in the sand and assume that it will all work out.
“The CSA determines who takes place in the Nutrilite Canadian championships,” he said. “Obviously we hope that the Impact and Whitecaps are playing in a league, but we determine the teams that are involved.”
However, Montopoli did warn that participation in the NCC does not guarantee recognition by CONCACAF.
“It’s two different competitions,” Montopoli said. “We need to make sure that they are playing in a league recognized by CONCACAF.”
So...is Peter Montopoli baised in favour of TFC too?
Duane, just as a suggestion, feel free to ignore it cause obvioulsy it's hard to just take crap, but maybe don't respond to trolls.
Idk just maybe for the proffesionality of the blog
but do whatever you want, it's your blog
as a quick question, it was kinda answered but nor the other guy, what's the Drillers status for V-Cup? Is it impoosible for this year? Even with NASL sanctioning? Or do they have to wait I'll the year after?
Tonight's ICF touched on the Drillers a bit. It should be up later tonight (it's being edited now)
Bob L had some interesting things to say about that situation, including that it isn't as far along as reported.
It’s the last question of the interview.
As for the V-Cup status of any new team at the former USL-1 level and above, the CSA has always maintained that they would figure a way to get them in immediately. So, I would expect that the new Drillers would be in right away.

Having a different opinion or thinking a writers style is biased does not equate being a troll.
Did I say Duane was a fuckin' idiot or a douchebag? No. That would be trolling...
I just feel that his journalism is biased and thats my opinion even if he and yourself do not agree...
Dude...it's football. Let's keep things in perspective as to what "biased" really means.
I've never hidden that I live in Toronto and attend TFC games as a season ticket holder. You are still offside in your assessment of my reporting of this issue.
CONCACAF refusing entry to the CCL to the Impact and Whitecaps is possible. If I was to ignore that possibility, I wouldn't be reporting the full story, would I?
Anyway...the ICF is up. Go listen to Bob and Kartik. They both have a lot of interesting things to say...
