When TFC decided not to re-new the contract of Lesly Fellinga they sent out a press release. Sure, he was part of a larger release that included information about Amado Guevara, but they still took the time to let fans now that Fellinga was not coming back.
Today it's been confirmed that Adrian Serioux has been released. They did that by, well, e-mail. If you asked nicely.
I try not to swear in this space, but..

This is a hometown guy that came back to the team last year to some acclaim. And he played well for stretches of the season last year, although injuries did slow him down. There are rumours that Serioux has suffered a serious injury (I've heard elbow and neck), but from the team we are hearing...
*crickets*
Serioux deserved better. And if, for some reason he didn't deserve better than the fans of TFC did.

I agree that he definitely deserved better but Serioux was poor from day one last season. His positional play is awful. He gets pulled all over the place by runs he has no business following as a center back. Maybe he is a good enough athlete and skillful enough for MLS but not at center back.
The Whitecaps have recently shored up their back line, but Serioux would like nice in a Caps kit, at least for this year and an option.
Well it's official. I checked and Toronto FC opens camp for 2010 with the smallest roster of signed players in the league.
If we would have learned anything in the past three seasons it would be this. Why in the hell do we chose to run a roster so relatively thin compared to the rest of MLS. I for one think this is a huge mistake.
Chicago - 23
Chivas - 28
Colorado - 23
Columbus - 25
DC United - 24
Dallas - 26
Houston - 21
Kansas City - 27
Los Angeles - 27 (includes Landycakes and Becks)
New England - 20
New York - 26
Philly - 21
RSL - 23
San Jose - 23
Seattle - 22
Toronto (minus Serious I guess) - 19
We can't even practice a full 11 on 11 with these guys. Yes I know there are triallists there but there is no escaping the fact that we most likely won't have a full roster (if we do at all) until well into the regular season.
he definitely deserved better, although he wasn't the best defender, there were a lot of days last season where he was the best player on the field for TFC. Mojo has screwed him out of Toronto twice now. Sad.
This might explain Paul's shitty shitty tweet last night.
What was the tweet?
Simply "just received shitty shitty news" on Tuesday mid-afternoon.
WOW! Didn't see that one coming... I'm speechless.
Duane get over it. Serioux wasn't that great and this team still needs to be a lot better. And who cares if he's a nice guy, name a guy on TFC who isn't nice?
I would argue that an injured Serioux is better positionally than a healthy Garcia... and no one is slower on the pitch.
CBC.ca says that Serioux is suffering a "potentially career-ending neck injury". If it's true, I can see why TFC would let him go (for the good of all sides concerned)...
... IF it's true. That's a big if. After the way they treated Danny Dichio, I don't trust them.
Wheeler in the Toronto Sun is reporting gross unease in the dressing room. Serioux is but a by-product of this symptom. Its the official pre-season and the team is in disarray from veterans down. Maybe Bgnewf is right. Mo may be a cunt.

I'm not commenting on whether it's a good move to not have Serioux back as a player (although I didn’t see any reason not to. Depth is good). I'm suggesting that things could have been handled better.
But Serioux never played in the Cambodian 4th division Rollins, just how much respect does he deserve??
GUARANTEED the reason this was done now and not a few weeks ago (say before the Draft) is bcs Mo gave up our first round pick to FCD for Serioux last year. Let him go before draft day and there are a lot of hard questions asked about why we have a neither a 1st round pick nor a Serioux. Mo's a jackhole.

As we receive most information about TFC in a somewhat "word-of-mouth" speculative way (Michelle is a dork!), I am surprised no one is willing or has he balls to address the real possibility that Adrian was a cancer in the locker room. Preki's mandate was to clean the house and it is no co-incidence that Serioux is gone.
The way club treats a player when they leave is a direct reflection of how the player treated the club and his teammates. To pretend your sorry to see someone go is worse on the rest of the team.
